Bali nightlife: where it is and where it stays quiet

Clubs, beach clubs and parties in Bali, where they cluster, how far the sound travels and how to choose a villa so the music does not keep you awake.

Nightlife in Bali clusters in three places: Seminyak with its clubs and bars, Canggu with beach clubs and live music, and the southern Bukit peninsula with sunset parties by the ocean. Ubud runs on a different clock: evenings are quiet there and the music is usually acoustic.

This section is about combining parties with sleep. If nightlife is the point of the trip, you want a house that is not in the lane next to a venue. If you want quiet instead, pick the area with room to spare: in Canggu and Seminyak the sound from large venues carries a long way.

When we view a villa we always ask the owner about nearby bars and check the noise in the evening rather than in the daytime.
